Have a predicted atar of 80 pre HSC exams, how many atar points could I get it up from the actual HSC exams. I have put a very low amount of effort in throughout the year so im sure if I study I could pull 80's in the test

You can definitely boost it up if you do well in the HSC exams. Remember that half of your overall HSC mark for each subject depends on how well you actually do yourself in the exam.

Your internal mark for each subject however is dependent upon how well your cohort does and your current rank for the particular subject. NESA tries to maintain everyone's rank and the gaps between each rank from school assessments when calculating the internal assessment mark. So if you are second in a subject for example, then your internal assessment mark will most likely be second from your class and the gap between the ranks above and below you would also be similar.

So yeah overall it's very achievable to get beyond the predicated ATAR if your ranks are alright and you perform well in the actual HSC exam :)

50% of your marks are determined by your performance in externals i.e HSC so it can make a significant difference.

Your HSC marks dictate your ATAR, and your marks are derived from the exam.

i'm kinda in a similar position. my ranks are all below average except for 4 of my 11 units and my school's ranked 20-30. do u know what raw marks i would need to aim for to get a 90+ ATAR (or possibly a 95+)?

That would depend on your subjects and how each subject scales - scaling is carried out afresh each year. You can work out from ATAR back to HSC mark back to raw mark. That would only be a rough indication based on historical data.

no one gets a 100 in the hsc for every subject.
if you did, you'll defs get 90+ tho ;)

She's Band 6 in all subjects except for Extension 2, which you don't need to be Band 6 for to be 99 equiv. I'd say more like 99+ actually.

Also, people forget that they can scale their own internals up theoretically. If you come first in the state externally, even if your internal mark is sub-optimal, it gets scaled up along with the rest of your cohort.
