How much money have you got saved in bank? (1 Viewer)

I was just wondering how much people around my age have saved (so I can compare with myself). I am 18 and have around $3500 in my savings account but I have a friend who has saved over 10K so how about you?

I have $700 taped under/behind a desk and then another approx. $1000 in various locations around my house (i.e. $50 in book A, $50 in book B, $100 in cupboard C etc). You never know when you need cash. ATMS are all good and fine although they fail. If the banking system goes down for an extended period of time would be screwed without cash. Obviously I keep most of my money in the bank still though.

I had a job from when 13-14, I've had a few small gigs from 16-18 and I won a competition where the prize was $1500 in year 8 and another one where the prize was $1000 in year 9

However I've spent a lot of that money I've earned and only ended up saving about $20000 all together
