I AGREE EXACTLY!

I've already gone ahead and learned the first chapter of HSC Biology and Chem and written notes for them. Our cohort also learned a fair bit of year 11 maths IN year 10, so everything now is almost a revision in a sense, because we're familiar with most of the concepts.
Nice!

I hate bio, does that mean I hate how I work and function?

I think preliminary Biology is pretty useless in HSC Biology as a whole, although there are somewhat minor areas in the preliminary course that are recovered in more depth in the HSC course (like meiosis). That being said, my school has only completed two HSC topics so I can't completely confirm that prelim is rather 'useless'.

It's the same with chemistry I guess. You don't really need the content in the preliminary course except knowledge of the key terms, such as moles, molarity, molecules, compounds etc. and formulas. I don't think I remember a lot of content learnt in the preliminary course otherwise. Again, I've only covered two of four HSC topics.

For Ancient History, you don't need to know anything in the preliminary course. People have told me the same for Studies of Religion I & II.

The only subjects I have felt that requires good knowledge from the preliminary course is Mathematics. MX1 students have more to retain in their memory.

So.... if there's a subject you want to slack off in, it's NOT math. :\

dont worry i hate biology as well :) useless
I absolutely loathe preliminary biology. Absolutely useless. But I guess pretty much all HSC science is useless compared to uni (according to my tutor who does chemistry there). LOATHE BIOLOGY. IT SHOULD DIE. But I'm keeping it for my HSC because I also LOATHE ancient history.

But doesn't Prelim serve as a foundation for HSC?
the BOS says the prelim is assumed knowledge and prerequisite for HSC content for all subjects.

but this really only makes sense for subjects where the prelim course generally mimics the HSC in structure ie. both English prelim and HSC have Area of Study then Modules.

Prelim Maths is really assumed knowledge and is one of the only subjects where you need prelim for HSC.

WOW. How do you people get all that stuff done so quickly?!!
maybe it comes from living in a city...?
all i know is, we are being rushed in EVERYTHING because our teachers don't think we're going to finish all of our topics. We're nowhere near done, let alone ahead into HSC work!! Maybe it's just country schools :S
