Just wondering how much study people did that got 95+ because i really want to get a good UAI...i know that people will say you know it depends and stuff but i just want a general idea so i know if i'm not doing enough work...

Many people would be able to get a score like 95 on just class work...
I suspect quite a few for 99+ even.
(not suggesting you follow that path)

I did three to four hours a night after school (after any homework and/or assessments), and six to eight hours on weekends starting from about two months before the first exam.

End result: 93.50

Argonaut - you did not get 93.50 UAI!?
Besides, if I put that much work in for the HSC I would have been pissed off with my UAI!

I'm sorry, but I hate it how people do that!
It is not your UAI that increases, instead the cut-off that drops!
And also, I thought you got 78.xx or so? I remember you missed out on your first preference which was something to do with town planning (I remember your rant about architecture being higher than town planning), and I think I remember your first preference being low 80's?

It really depends on you. If you study for 1 hour per day and you feel you know all the stuff by heart then you can still get UAI 95+.

If other people tell you to study for certain hours of the day, let's say 7 hours. However if you are not absorbing any information in those 7 hours, then it is just a waste of time. Not everyone can concentrate on that long hours. Some people maybe able to concentrate very hard for 2 hours and they can do all the study in those 2 hours.

If you can't concentrate for that long then not only it is a waste of time, you may even forget what you've studied.

how did u get bonus points from universities?

Different universities have different guildlines. University of Wollongong gives 3 bonus points for those who attends high schools in the council areas of Sutherland Shire, Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Shoalhaven. University of Newcastle also gives 2 bonus points for those who attends high schools in the Newcastle areas (I think).

I heard University of Western Sydney, ANU also give out bonus points.

You may also apply for misadventure (examples are long term illness, family problems - parents divorce, pass away etc etc), and depends on each case, up to 5 bonus points will be given to successful applicants. Hope this helps

Also, if you are rural, you get bonus points to crap universities I would never consider going to! These include, South Cross, Charles Sturt, and New England Universities. Very, very appealing I know.

charles sturt has the most recognised communications degree in anywhere....

and newcastle students get to go to newcastle uni with extra 4 points too.... i spose ur one of the ppl who thinks anywhere not syd is rural/country

Those Universities you mentioned are not crap universities and have specialists areas that metropolitan universities don't have. Each university has its own faults and good points but don't think just because a University is not thought to be prestigious doesn't mean its not any good.

I know the UNE has one of the best agricultural facilites and humanity faculties.
