how did everyone go on the last page?

i am pretty sure i got whole of the projectile motion, that was weird as i studied that jus during the morning. i was happy when 2U = V worked out:D

as for the induction, i couldnt do the last part.

but i left out quite a bit, rates of change, got the 3d trig wrong and other mistakes. i'll prolly get around mid-60's i think

I couldnt do 3D in the exam but figured it out when I got home. h=0.2m (it looks wrong though).
I used the sine rule and expressed AC and BC in terms oh h then ABS is just a rght angle triangle?

umm i cant remember the last page. i remember working on it though :confused:

yeah u express the 2 sides in terms of h, then the bottom triangle is rt.angled and they had given u the length of the hypotenuse so its just pythag. i dnt think u needed the sine rule.

How did u express the sides?, if u didnt use the sine rule?

For that first part of Q7 did u have a constant for part 2? Iam sure i stufed it up but just wondering...

Me, and a friend got pi/4, for both the approximation questions. So i'm sure that's the right answer..

Yeah it's one of the rules.
I bummed out on the Ext 1 Paper, but I can remember being taught about the re-arranging and squaring both sides bit.

especially if you've drawn the graph. Integrating vertically (using y instead of x) would still get you the same answer :)

damn.. i could have done that induction part, was just lost in the way :(

umm.. tan(degrees) = opposite / adjacent... omg, were those right angled triangles??? they better have been!!

edit: i'm pretty sure they were right angled. the sine rule probably worked anyway

but the first part was:

oh yeah, with induction u can get 3/4 or 2/3 anyway, so its all good

yeah the 2nd part was something like
(1!) + (2!) + (3!) .... ohh i dnt even know if there were the pluses between them and i can't remember how it finished

Our school must have changes the induction question because ours was different. I have the paper sitting right in front of me, so this is the question we were given:):

Use the method of proof by induction to show that

1 + 7 + 19 + .... + (3n^2 - 3n + 1) = n^3

All CSSA trials were bloody hard this year!
Maybe not Physics, but the Chemistry one and Maths ones were hard (to me) :)
