How would you approach these essay questions for Conflicting Perspectives? (1 Viewer)

How would you approach the following essay questions if Trials of Oz from Justice Game, and 'Speer and Hitler' (docudrama) was your related text for the module Conflicting Perspectives?:)

1) To what extent has your understanding of conflicting perspectives been developed by the interplay between factual and emotional aspects of your set text and at least one related multimedia text of your own choosing?

2) How important is the representation of personal experience or opinion in creating meaning in your set text and at least one related multimedia text of your own choosing?

3) Acts of representation of conflicting perspectives are never neutral. Is this your experience in your stufy of your set text and at least one related multimedia text of your own choosing?

Not really sure, I'm kind of struggling with putting my knowledge of the conflicting perspectives within the text towards questions such as these (I'm studying Ted Hughes).

However, I think for the first one (although I don't know your texts) I would be looking at different examples of perspectives within the text that use emotive engagement (language techniques?!!!??!) to present a more factual argument as part of a conflicting perspective on personalities, events, situations etc.... I would discuss how the use of emotive engagement enhances or detracts from different sides of those conflicting perspectives.

For the second and third I think you are looking at much the same answer - how the composer portrays the conflicting perspectives in order to support his/her side over any others. You would discuss how significant it is that the composers attempt to present these conflicting perspectives in a "one-sided" manner... how does it effect their choice of language? How does it effect the audience response? What do we learn about conflicting perspectives and the nature of truth as a consequence?

Hope this helps a bit, just my thoughts. It seems that rather than directly answering these questions you frame what you know of the conflicting perspectives within the text around the terms of the question, relating the ideas presented in the question to the presentation of the conflicting perspectives in the text.

First one is a little tricky...Maybe suggest that it is emotive aspects that lead to a factual understanding of a text and state that because it is emotions that sways fact, the interplay between factual and emotive aspects is such that the emotional state of the author determines a readers factual understanding, through techniques.

You could equate 'meaning' in the second question to mean specific issues, such as (don't use this one) the volatility of marriage, and state that it is personal experience i.e. emotive aspects that lead to subjective factors which then create conflicting perspectives, the juxtaposition of which gives meaning.

Third one (I think) is a bit poorly worded, but neutrality in the context means being unbiased (I guess), thus when authors create texts they have bias in their relationships to others, which creates conflicting perspectives when contrasted with different authors.

Hope this helps, wouldn't quote me on the third one though.
