Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon

For the last Q I posted a hint is the triangular inequality.

Re: HSC 2013 4U Marathon

Put a new 2014 thread? I dislike years getting mixed up =[

Triangle Inequality eh spiral? Lets play around with the stuff which is given...

Idk feels shifty... Did I assume anything? (Can u say those things from triangle ineq?)
Am I on the right path?

LOL nice one, caught on technicality? But pretty sure it's referring to fermat's last theorem. Where n must also be an integer.
haha obviously a counter-troll.

Good to meet you too lol. All good bro :p
Hahaha U asked for question, Here i post one:

Use demoivre theorem to find tan7x in terms of tan x. (3)
Find the Value of cot^2 (pi/7) + cot^2 (2pi/7) + cot^2 (3pi/7). (6)

Note: I didnot make this question and therefore yields correct and valid answers.

Alright, lets do this :p
[1]
Find tan7x in terms of tanx.

Divide Imaginary by Real:

DIVIDE EVERYTHING BY COS^7(X) :)

YAYYYAYAYAYAYYAYAYYAYAY. Screw the next question, I'll look at it later LOL.

As for an update on compilation process, I'm up to page 63 right now, its a much longer process than I thought (mostly because I need to make sure the questions are solvable)!

What exactly are you compiling?

------
If i let z=x+iy and expand...

Now logically, if it was to be purely imaginary then, the real part would equal to zero right?

I know i screwed up somewhere...

-------
If its purely imaginary for |z|=2, then.....

Now, let real=0

I have a feeling i'm thinking in the wrong way for these questions...

Yep for the first it is |z| = 1, not sure how you got to z=+- 1 though, z can be complex as well (for example, as an excercise try putting z=1/2 + sqrt(3)/2 i in that function, it should output a purely imaginary number)

For the second one, try thinking of a function similar to the first one.

Jazu... Um... i'm going to go out on a limb and say...

Well... It seems to work using the previous working out...

Replace the sqrt(2) with 2 and its correct :)

The proper way to do it is just consider:

We know that it is purely imaginary for

Therefore it is purely imaginary for
