do we have to mention any newspaper articles and journals in our response

i already knwo about legislation and cases
but im not sure about articles and the rest

You don't have to, but things like, reports from the Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research is something that could be considered to include - which are received positively by markers.

The rubric generally says something like "uses evidence from a wide range of sources", so basically, yes.
