Hey everyone,

I was just wondering if it is possible to get a UAI over 98 with these subjects:

Advanced English
Business Studies
Ancient History
Modern History
Legal Studies

What kind of marks would I need to sustain ?

Thanks heaps,

ashjw84.

many subs are considered low scalers, but if you do good in them they may scale well, so you shouldnt generalise, but subs likes general maths, standard eng, senior scien, biz studes ande legal ( plus stuff like textiles and art) are sterotpically low scalers

yeah it is for sure. You are doing adv eng which is good. Modern is also fairly good ( in terms if scaling) ancient, legal and business studies arent but if you do well in them, all good.

but doesn't legal studies have POSITIVE scaling last year and in 2002? i know it was somewhere slightly above 25 (average scaling) but it's still an ok scale and not low at all. it'll depend on how well this year's HSC peeps for legal studies performed in the subject and exams.

Meh. I give up on UAI. I'm going to study my arse off for biology, chemistry and 4unit amths, though, and If I get 99, I get 99. If I get 85, I get 85 - so long as it is high enough to do maths at uni.

if you only choose subjects based on "how well" they scale, you're probably limiting yourself. Choose something you enjoy and that you're good at. If you do well, you'll get good marks, if you do bad, they'll suck. It's not a hard formula!!! ;)

You'll not only be limiting yourself, it'll probably backfire. :uhhuh:

Choose sopmething like Classical Greek if you're a scaling freak. :p
