I tend to do the subjects that have assessments coming up first but im falling behind on my other subjects

i only have from ~4pm to ~7pm so how can i maximise studying?

the problem is im able to do about all the hw requested for most subjects but im not able to study ahead to stay on top of things
i asked to drop 2 units with my deputy but she refused till term 2 week 6

for context:
eng adv, 3u math, chem, bio, physics, eco and a language externally

first you gotta like drop to 11-12 units max omg 13 units is too much let alone 15. my friend did 13 and she struggled so much. if u plan to drop then i'd suggest making the decision on what you drop now and then focus on the subjects you aren't going to drop

maximise studying by not continuously revisiting what you already know but what you're definitely struggling with and not understanding. then on top of that do a few past paper qs to consolidate learning

I was in a similar situation last year, but I chose eng ext 1 as a filler subject to make my units even so that I could have 12 units at school rather than 13. If you're still allowed, you could try and transfer from bio to ee1 (it's a hassle though)

I managed to convince the deputy to let me drop ee1 late in the term by showing her my term 1 results in my external subject. Do you have any friends from your year or above who also did a language? Maybe you can campaign to the deputy together. I get that some deputies are rlly strict but you should definitely push for it because 15 units are way too much and completely unfair. Quite a few schools let you include external subjects in your unit count from day one.

Or you can just do other subjects' hw during bio lol and flunk the exam... it won't matter because you're dropping

Yeah 15 units is crazy. If there not gonna let you drop don't bother studying for bio and just do whatever you want in the class.

I cant do ee1 bc i got a B in English last yr also we’re in week 7 so not worth it
my friend is doing japanese beginners n was allowed to drop a subject at school the reason was they made her drop 2 units at school or drop the subject entirely (she had 14: 12 at school and 2 online)

the thing i dont understand is that why was she allowed and not me? Similarly, my sisters friend (they are class of 25) was in yr 11 doing korean beginners online and was not allowed to drop like me
she had 5 accelerated units (3u math + 2u chem) which i think if between us 3 she should be the one allowed to drop if ykwim

im not sure why my friend was given ‘privileges‘ :(

also i cant bring myself to fail a subject 😭 like yh i wont do the work in class but at home ill do it (like im taking a break rn but after ill be doing my bio work)

im thinking that it might be due to scaling? arabic continuers is one of the worst scaling languages/subjects and since im dropping bio (a good scaling subject) the deputy doesnt want me to drop just yet? She said she’ll have to see my sem 1 reports for arabic that come in term 2 week 6
but idk highly doubt thats the reason tho

Regardless if i want to study for it or not
i need help creating a schedule that helps me study efficiently for 8 (or 7) subjects in minimal time

@Hehehe22 also i forgot to mention that the deputy says if im doing average or failing the language i wont be allowed to drop 2 units at school regardless if i fail another 2 units at school

sp say i fail bio and arabic:
i wont be allowed to drop bio n they’ll make me drop arabic

and my sisters friend confirmed that but shes coming top 3 in her class for language (even tho she aint even east asian lol - im sorry the ‘lol’ might’ve seem a bit racist 😭)

Hmm this is interesting... Jap beginners doesn't scale well either, so I don't think that's the reason.

How confident are you in Arabic continuers? In the worst case scenario that you mentioned, you can drop both Arabic and bio and you'll still be left with 11 units for the HSC. You could also pick up mx2 or other ext subjects in yr 12 if you want. Also, even if you fail bio in yr 11 you can start fresh in yr 12 and put more effort cause your yr 11 marks won't count.

Seeing that you've chosen to go through the hassle of learning a language externally, I'm guessing that you think that you can do well. There's only a small cohort doing Arabic cont, so if you top it the scaling won't really matter as much.

I think you should still go grill your deputy about why your friend was allowed to drop but you weren't lolol

Im very confident in arabic lol
and i have multiple help (my dad has a phd in arabic, i have two teachers at the language centre and i have a teacher who is an arabic hsc marker at school)

ill probably just keep bugging the deputy as u said bc its not fair
also the problem abt dropping bio for yr 12 is that i was hoping to drop eco 😬

eco n bio were my reserves n i didnt expect to get into bio (maybe eco but not bio) so bio was like totally random n out of the blue

maybe talk to ur bio teacher if u know for sure ur gonna drop and explain that ur just literally not allowed to drop. you might be allowed to just do other work in bio but u can still do teh big assignments if you dont wanna fail it
