My formal name on UNSW's system is different from my passport name because I have a another "given name" which I hardly ever use (e.g. for credit cards etc) and I was wondering can I still get my ID card?

Nope it has to match otherwise they won't give you the ID. Does your driver's license match with the unsw system's name?

You will have to change one or the other. Ask them to see what they can do for you.

If you want to change it, you have to go to Student Central, get a form, fill it out, hand it in, then wait a few hours for your details to update in their system.
So better just do it in the morning then get your ID in the afternoon, or get it the next day.

It only takes 30 minutes for the changes to become effective, according to Student Central.
