Re: English Assessment Help

I'm using Taxi Driver as a related text, i suppose you could try Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; but it wouldn't make much difference now, seeing as the exam is in 11 hours time.

We did a very similar AOS to Identity in Y11 called 'Outsiders'

I think its possible 2 use the song "Scar" by Missy Higgins for a related text. Would've said Frankenstein, but its one of the texts set 4 the Comparative Study...

It could be a stretch but Heart of Darkness and Brave New World both have issues relating to identity within them

in my school, the context is identity and belonging and the text related to this stupid area of study is 'catcher in the rye'by JD Salinger and Bombshells. i forgot who wrote bombshells but its a play or something like that

We're not allowed to do Catcher, because a lot of us did it in Year 10 for Close Study of a Classics Author.

Hey,

I'm just wondering - does anyone have any good ideas for related texts, for the English Advanced Area of Study of Identity? I'm sorta short on ideas, and the only ones I have so far are Robert Frost's The Road Not Taken and Melina Marchetta's Looking For Alibrandi (although, my teacher said the latter was too simple, and since we're supposed to be comparing these related texts to poems, she also said that the former would not be 'excellent' for comparing other poems to).

I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas, or any good places where there are ideas.

Thanks in advanced.
(novel) walking naked by alyssa brugman, (novel) looking for alibrandi by melina marchetta and 'as i am' (lyrics) by dream theatre are what i used.. area of study being 'fitting in making connections' in each of the novels they go through phases trying to find their identity..
just a though, dont know if that was helpful..?

robert frost peoms r really really good!

its funny coz my teacher said looking for alibrandi is great for identity! u cud also do harry potter - that gives u alot of stuff on identity, and best thing is u cud redo harry potter in yr 12 for journeys, so ur only gonna hav to go over notes in yr 12 rather than study the whole book again!

SUPER BUMP!
Well we've just gotten our oral task on identity, and since we are doing a novel and a film in class, our teacher has discouraged us from doing another one of either.
So I'm hoping for a play or something.
I was going to do Othello, but the finding of one's identity needs to bring happyness or joy (or the opposite, but nothing in between)
Any ideas?
