If I have done no HSC sciences, will I struggle more with B.med science or B.pharmacy

*The reason why I am asking this question is I am really havin ga hard time to choose between these two degrees because I like them both. As a result I have decided to put in a factor of which degree is harder to me (which in my case I have done no HSC sciences).

Thank you everyone.

I'm sure there is a similiar thread around here... Tbh i'd say you would be equally disadvantaged (i.e. not a whole lot) in both of them.

Yah thanks,

but this is the only factor for me to decide betweenn them. I want to know which course I would be more disadvantaged in.

Thats a pretty bad way of deciding which course to enrol in. What kind of job do you want and, realistically, are you planning on ever doing medicine?

Can I ask why you want to this course? It seems like an anomaly to have no interest in HSC science and then want to do one of these degrees. Do you want to do med and banking on your natural better humanity side not work out?

Well I did choose humanities as my subjects for HSC but that doesnt mean I have no interest in science, I just chose the subjects that I think I can do best in. I want to do these degrees because they are in the medical field/area and I have an interest.

So does have anyone have a clue of which b.pharm or b.med science is more hard to do without hsc science?

From what I gathered from friends and people that i've talked to, B. med sic is more biology based whereas B. pharm is more chemistry based.

Just depends on where your interest lies i guess.

However lovehateschool is right!
You have to work pretty hard, even with bridging courses in order to do well in these courses as I've heard these courses are even difficult for many who have done science during the HSC.

Good lucky making your decision :)

So you were hoping to capitalise on strengths to do med? So this is a stopgate to med hopefully? If you want to do med, I suppose a science degree is good to develop for the GAMSAT if required-although it you are hoping to transfer with uni grades/UMAT after first year or so, do the undergrad you can get the best marks in.

So Med Sci is slightly more inclined to biology (I think easier to pick up without a HSC background imho) where pharmacy is much more chemistry (imho harder to pick up without HSC background, but your interest plays strongly here as I am a biology lover myself). Pharmacy probably has better employability provided you want to be a pharmacist if med transfer doesn't work out, so many people end with a Med Sci degree can't get into medicine and don't really go where they want to (unless maybe a back up is research).

Think about where you want to be at the end of your degree, and which degree will get you there. If you have trouble with the science, you can always find a tutor. Or a study group - some Universities have people who organise free study groups that can (sometimes) be as effective as tutoring.

There is also Khanacademy and probably some more specialised channels you'd only know about if you were doing that degree.
