I don't think it was necessary as such but it's clearly a product of the same pattern seeking behaviour that would later lead to rational thought, they just had nothing to work with at the time so it was their (our) first attempt.Slidey said:I'd contend that religion was a necessary precursor to the rational thought which completely supersedes it.
