You obviously cannot do HSC EE1/2 in Year 12. You have to complete the preliminary component of the subject or a prerequisite subject before the HSC component of the subject.

Yes it is not possible to undertake the extension 1 or 2 course without doing preliminary extension 1

No you cannot, as it is ESSENTIAL to successfully complete the outcomes and requisites of the Preliminary Extension English course.

yes, that goes for any HSC subject, not just English, or EE1. If you do English Standard, you can't do Advanced in year 12. However if you did Advanced in year 11, you could drop to standard in year 12. If you do HSC English ESL, you can only do ESL in year 12. But you need to meet strict eligibility criteria to do ESL, it's not like any advanced or standard student can drop to it as it is unfair for those doing it, and you are gaming the system for compulsory English if you even thought to do so.
