what is ranking? very one says depends on "ranking" not school marks, please elaborate someone!

In respect to the rest of the state, a school's overall marking scheme could be subjective. Similarly, the difficulty of assessments differ between schools. By using rankings, this removes any bias which may be created because of these quirks.

In your cohort, where is your standing. Say for example in a subject like English if there are 50 people doing it, then where are you positioned. For e.g. like 1st out of the 50, 20th out of 50 etc etc.
