Im having some problems interpreting these quotes from Immigrants at Centrral station. I dont know whether they are metaphors, personification etc etc etc
here are the quotes
“Dropped like a guillotine”
“All night it had rained”
“dampness that slowly sank into our thoughts…but we ate it all”
“Cutting us off from the space of eyesight”
“Time waited anxiously with us”

Could someone with a bit of time please clarify firstly what id call these quotes (eg metaphor, similes etc) and what they are implying

which is apparent in all Skryzinecki poems
can relate to death
