Can someone tell me what is thie course about, do you study anything with commerce in it?
Is it possible for you to change it back to commerce (like is it related?)
thank you

INFS is commerce, so if you want to do commerce you can major in INFS.
However if you are looking at the Bsc Business Information Systems degree than, you'll be doing a bit of programming and maths in first year.

INFS is about applying technology in a business environment, it really helps if you know about how that technology works but you don't need to.

hmmm...i think you are a bit confused
It works like this:
You do a Bachelor of Commerce, then you can choose to [double major] or [single major and up to double minor]. There are a few majors/minors you can do eg:
Information Systems
Finance
Accounting (don't do this...lol...)
Marketing
Etc

By now you might be confused about what majors and minors are.....
well.....major is like your specialisation in the area of commerce and minor is well...a 'minor' specialisation. For precise requirements...I suggest the UNSW online handbook

EDIT:...sorry didn't answer your q
Transfer within the uni is fairly easy, all course you do get transferred over to your new degree.
So if you find the Bsc Information Systems a bit not to your taste....you can transfer all the Units Of Credit to your new Bcomm degree....

From Bsc Information Systems
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2007/3979.html

Year 1
ACCT1501 Accounting & Financial Mgt 1A (6 UOC)
ACCT1511 Accounting & Financial Mgt 1B (6 UOC)
COMP1911 Computing 1 (6 UOC)
COMP1921 Data Structures and Algorithms (6 UOC)
INFS1602 Info Systems in Business (6 UOC)
INFS1603 Business Data Management (6 UOC)
And ONE of:
MATH1131 Mathematics 1A (6 UOC)
MATH1141 Higher Mathematics 1A (6 UOC)
And ONE of:
MATH1231 Mathematics 1B (6 UOC)
MATH1241 Higher Mathematics 1B (6 UOC)

From Bcom
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2007/3502.html
36 units of common Level 1 core courses as follows:

ACCT1501 - Accounting & Financial Mgt 1A
ACCT1511 - Accounting & Financial Mgt 1B
ECON1101 - Microeconomics 1
ECON1102 - Macroeconomics 1
ECON1202 - Quantitative Methods A#
ECON1203 - Quantitative Methods B#

So if you decide to transfer after first year you will have to do Micro/Macro and QMA/B in 2nd year.
The other units you studied earlier will be transferred over to your new degree...which means less electives you will have to do.
Overall I would say transfer between Bsc Information Systems and Bcom can be done with none or minimal loss of time...i think...unless there are no free electives in Bcom...hopefully someone else can shed some light on that.

The Bsc and Bcom don't really matter so don't get paranoid at the difference, it's what courses you do that matter.
Also I think Bsc IS is under science because it does COMP in year 1 and MATH which is not considered commerce....but overall it does a lot of INFS. The good thing is you can choose your electives from COMP, MATH and all commerce schools.

thx a lot for replying to my threads misdreavous vbmenu_register("postmenu_3224667", true); ur a lengend
just two more questions
is it possible to transfter in the first half of the year and do u need to ace the mid year exams?
second thing is how long is the teaching duration for the following courses (ie how much time do lecturers spend on these courses) [just want to work out how much time i got and how much i waste) or do they teach it altogether and are the maths and programing in the info system really hard?

UNSW Handbook said:
After enrolling you may find you are unhappy with your program or with some of the courses you have chosen. If so, speak to your program office or the First Year Student Contact in your faculty to see what possibilities are open to you. Your choices may be limited by the progression rules of your program which set down the compulsory courses you must take and the order in which you must take them. Nonetheless, it may be possible to withdraw from courses, to add courses, or to transfer to another program of study.

Proper procedures apply to transfer from one program to another, to withdraw from courses, or to add new courses. You must follow these procedures or you may find that you have an academic record with failures listed for courses you have not attempted.

Students wishing to transfer from one plan to another or wishing to enrol in a combined degree program within the following awards should apply through their school office: Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture), Bachelor of Laws. Students wishing to transfer between programs with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences should apply through the Faculty Office except for the Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications).
I think it would be possible to transfer after first semester(half year) but I don't think you should, unless you absolutely hate your courses. No need to ace...just don't fail....:p

If you want it easy do commerce, all their courses are 3h/week each so a 12h week. Whereas if you do Bsc IS you would have to do 18h weeks. BUT programming is lots of fun - at least from my perspective. Also they teach COMP as if you have had no experience. Maths is not too bad, if you did 3u you'd be fine, as for 2u....one of my friends got Distinctions (75+) for maths and he only did 2u.

LOL....should say that earlier that makes a lot more sense now
In that case you might want to get about a credit average for a transfer and you would have to apply through uac again i think, so mid year i am not sure if you can transfer.

BUT if you like technology and want to apply technology to the business environment, Bsc Information Systems is the way to go.
AND if you can get a credit average, you might be lucky enough to transfer to the Bsc Business Information Technology co-op degree which comes with a $15, 000/year scholarship and you get placed on industrial training with big sponsor companies.....
