Does anyone know how to integrate the square root of tanxdx. The dx is not included under the square root sign.

Thanks

umm this question reminds me of a Patel one... try this. i'm not too sure if it works..
let x = tan^-1 u
.: dx = du/(x^2 +1)
.: the tans cancell out and you're left with
I = (sqrt u)/(u^2 +1) du

1/2*tan(x)^(1/2)/(cos(x)*sin(x))^(1/2)*cos(x)*2^(1/2)*acos(cos(x)-sin(x))-1/2*2^(1/2)*log(cos(x)+2^(1/2)*tan(x)^(1/2)*cos(x)+sin(x))

Sorry everyone, i just spoke to my teacher who first thought that it was possible using four unit techniques but now just realised that it is not.

Sincere apologies to anyone who tried this over and over like i did.
