What if I got 97 and come first in MX2 externals and I'm ranked 3rd internally

but lets say if first place internals got only 92-93 and 2nd place got 91 for internals

what would happen? would I take the 91 or by how much the internals would be aligned? :O

this issue is worrying me because 1st place now decides to only aim to get Q1-6 correct and not bother much with Q7 and Q8, while I'm actually capable of answering Q7 and quite a bit of Q8 too (for the HSC papers)
and 2nd place is bludging like crazy, I doubt she'll do very well in the HSC

1st place is with 87%
2nd place is with 83%
3rd palce is with 82% (that's me)

So I'd say the internal aligning will be very close right?
I'd say so yes. You would probably get around 93, 94 internally in your hypothetical.

If you get the top external mark of 97, then your internal moderated mark would be around 92.
If your cohort does poorly, it might be lower than 92, and if your cohort does very well, it could be higher than 92.

I'm guessing now I need to tell 1st place to attempt a bit of Q8 and get a lot of Q7, just so he can act as my cushion :p
and 2nd place.. well I need to help her out

Try not to worry too much about things which are out of your control. Just worry about the things which are.

but your internal mark may be shaped by your students, so you want them to do as well as you are. (in my case it probably will so that means my internals would be lower than externals)

Yeah, in this case its not completely beyond your control.
If you help your cohort do well, then you're also helping yourself.

True, but at the end of the day, it doesnt matter how much you try to motivate them, they will inevitably have to make the decision on there own whether or not they want to apply themselves. With the HSC, there are many things out of your control (like your cohort), my advice to people is to focus on the things which you control, like your own study etc. Dont waste energy worrying about stuff you cant change.

lol, your worrying about potential band 6 students. Mate, i have been piped by a student (for 2nd) that only thrives on hand-ins, but bombs out in exams. I think i have something to worry about aha.

LOL coz I don't want them to just scrape band 6, I want them to get well within a band 6 (I'm aiming for a high E4 for MX2 so I'm looking at around 105-110/120 for the externals)

Okay next scenario

I'm 1st in MX1 by 1%, 2nd place is 86%. If I score 98 and he scores in 96 in externals, what would be my internal mark?

The person ranked first will always get the highest external mark as their internal mark.
So in this case, 98

All i can say is just worry about yourself. I have tried with my follow peers, given them notes, and everything. If they want to achieve lower marks, then that is up to them. There's no point threating about the others, getting stressed and then bombing out yourself. You never know, they could be bluffing and really be banging out the revision, and trying to scare you as such.

You have to remember as well that your marks will become aligned. So i will use english as an analogy. If the person achieves 70/105 in an English Exam which equates to 67%? i don't know, then it could get raised to 80%. So saying that your friends marks, will more than likely get raised despite how bad they could potentially go. This will benefit you.
