Francophile BOSer meet-up.

To get the French brains working for the exam on the 28th on the Saturday, what does everyone think of the idea of a French meet-up somewhere next week? Somewhere as central to all available as possible. A little rendez-vous specially so we can speak French :p.

At the moment I am thinking two ideas. I know these are wretchedly Sydney-based, but if there are any other suggestions please add them! Maybe we could even train it to the Blue Mountains or Newcastle or Wollongong, depending how everyone adventurous we all are!

1) Meet Thursday, 26 August at about 5pm at the Alliance française, to meet in their 'Grand café', which advertises itself as a lovely convivial atmosphere to meet, drink and be merry. There will also be native French speakers there that would probably be willing to have a natter so this might be really good. On Thursday the Café is open until 7pm ish I think. Here's a link to the site http://www.afsydney.com.au/content/lang__en/tabID__3348/home/grand_cafe.aspx .

257 Clarence St, Sydney. The second street west of the QVB.

2) Meet Friday, 27 August at about 5pm at Gloria Jean's on Pitt St in the City, not the one in the Mall, the one near Town Hall.

3) Other suggestions? Thoughts and stuff. Post away!

Chépas. :D

ARgH. I have no sense of direction whatsoever when it comes to the city. I'm trying to think where the Gloria Jeans you're referring to is. All I can picture is Starbucks in Circular Quay, which is no where near there!

Is it anywhere near the Woolworths on the corner of wherever Town Hall Station is .....?

Anyway. I'm going to vote for Friday.

unfortunately, it would take me over an hour to get there... so i wouldn't be able to go... :( and i would never find the gloria jeans anyway. actually i don't like coffee and i'm lactose intolerant so doesn't really matter. i can count on one hand the number of times i've been into the city that isn't for school excursions... and school excursions don't exactly provide the best situation for finding your way around. not fair.

You've been deprived of milk and the City!!

The city is fabulous, I love it. It's just the matter of finding my way around which is a problem....

I think it's only 40 minutes from my place to the City. So I should have enough time.

(btw I never got this, when we talk bout days of the week do we put the definite article before it?)

No reason. J'aime vendredi plus....

Nah. Any day after Wednesday is fine with me- be it Thursday or Friday. I'll just fit in with whatever choice becomes most popular. :)

Où est-ce que tu habites, tomorrow_? Peut-être qu'on peut se rencontrer un peu près de chez toi... si ça convient aux autres?

Où habitez-vous tous? I live in the Ryde area so city doesn't bother me, it takes me usually 40-45 minutes to get there anyway, but I like the city. If there's something geographically common sort of equal distance from everyone?

Though I voted for the Alliance on Thursday :D

no i like hornsby shops cos there's no one there. like i usually go to castle towers except there's too many people.

Out of curiosity, if you guys have never met before, how are you going to recognise each other? i have this funny image of people walking up to random strangers going "hi, i'm .... from BOS" and they'll be like what the?!?!

Yeah, let's go, people! I've been envisaging a Franco BOS meet-up for a while now, so, now that we have only a few days until the apocalypse, perfect opportunity!

There'll be a way... I've done it before, so it can't be that hard... :D Like "I'm the idiot standing in front of X lamppost/ X shop, my mobile number is 04XX XXX XXX, sms me where you are..."

LOL! I didn't think about that. Umm.. I have no idea. I 'aint going to go there in my school uniform, so....

Description:
- Red (dyed) hair.
- Brown eyes.
- I always carry a turquoise handbag.

....and that's about as detailed as I get.

So now, with such a detailed description we've narrowed it down to approximately a third of the population. :D

Any other ways short of having to hold a sign reading "I'm from BoS"? :D :D :D
