ipod nano storage capacity (1 Viewer)

Hi, well i bought the ipod nano 4g model. I went into the settings to check out the storage space and saw that it was 3.7gig. Is this normal, cause I haven't downloaded any songs on it yet.

Yeh that's normal. It's to do with the correct terminology/exact size and so on... then there's probably iPod software on there already too.

Yeah its completey normal with any storage device.

Even my computer's 200GB HDD is really about ~180GB

Yeh.. and Windows also sets aside some of the drive for page file, system restore, recycle bin, etc... but then, I still remember the days of when I only had a 500mb hard drive in my 20mhz pc.

normal...the space used is the formatting for the device......

yep, as all of the above have said, it's to do with binary number conversions etc + the pre-installed software on the device.

so these days, don't expect absolute maximum storage capacity.

It would be possible to do.

Dont know if ipod's tiny battery could get those drives spinning though :p
