hi

i have an older creative mp3 player that just broke last week. anyway, with this one i would copy songs from cd's onto my computer and then transfer them to the creative mp3 player.

im thinking of getting an ipod nano or shuffle now but on the official iPOD site i keep reading about how you can download songs from itunes and blah blah blah. dont you have to pay for that?

even if you do have to pay is it still possible to do what i did with my creative mp3 player?

thanks.

For downloading songs from itunes, first you have to create an account and give them your credit card number, then when you want to download songs off itunes, they will charge you via credit card. personally i would choose to go and but a itunes music card (like a pre paid card) from shops like kmart or myer.
if you get a nano or shuffle, you can still transfer music from cd's, but you gotto use itunes to import songs and place them into the ipod. its just the way apple designed it. if you have an ipod, you have to use itunes, or if you have winamp, you can just download a ipod support plugin and use that instead~

thanks this was helpful.

but what do you mean by "you can still transfer music from cd's, but you gotto use itunes to import songs and place them into the ipod."

is that like, you use itunes to copy (or import) the songs from the cd and then onto the ipod?

also where do we get itunes? do we gotta download it off the net or does it come with the ipod when you buy it?

Yep, that's correct, basically you use iTunes to transfer songs on your computer or from a cd onto your iPod.

Usually you get a cd that includes an older version of iTunes with your iPod, you can download the newest version of iTunes from the official iPod site.
