I thought it was a great exam, nothing hard was in there at all.
Aka OSI layer shit or having to do error checking on some binary.

Only thing in multiple choice that had me stumped was 19
At first I chose D, the network card & ethernet cable & mail inbox

but then i had a reread and chose B ( i think it was)
with the Wireless & Ethernet cable & mail inbox
because on the diagram the ethernet cable wasn't an entity (in a box), and the network card was. So thinking they both should be of the same symbol I chose the wireless and ethernet cable because they both had the same diagram symbol, and were almost the opposite sender and reciever in both networks.

If that makes any sense at all lol

Some questions were totally gay like the ones where you had to anaylse and talk about the information processes with systems. It was so broad and I basically had to write a whole bunch hopefully writing what they wanted..

Overall, great exam. Easier than my trial paper for sure!

Fairly certain is was SSL mate.
thanks, wikipedia confirms it too. i knew i should of followed my gut but what can you expect when the teacher fails at pointing out these things, or fails at teaching for that matter.

I only knew this from craming a glossary of a textbook right before the exam, seemed to prove its worth haha.

I had never seen this symbol before ever, but I just assumed it was SSL as it was the only one associated with security. I looked it up and it's right.

Also, question 19 was just stupid. I put B as it sorta fitted in with the normal framework but as some people have already said, it shouldn't be ethernet cable as that's the medium.

Question 9 I was tossing up between a and d, cos I've seen both of them mentioned within feasibility studies.

This is what I got... I found the mutli choice by far the most confusing thing in the exam

1. b
2. a
3. d
4. c
5. d
6. a
7. b
8. c
9. b
10. c
11. d
12. a
13. a
14. a
15. c
16. c
17. d
18. a
19. b
20. d
I got exactly the same answers as you! Except for 9

I put B for 9, as that would fit under technical feasibility of the feasibility report.

Yeah, I'm pretty confident. I got 9 wrong though I'm sure lol for some reason I thought that it didn't matter what hardware you had, only if it was feasible with the new technology of the proposed solution and that the participant training or whatever came in with operational. Ah well I'm just glad it's over

This year's paper was soooo rigged lol. The people who designed this test must've been high. Nwz here are my multiple choice answers and explanations for the tricky ones:

1.b
2.a
3.d
4.a - 'simulated' data sounds right but I've never heard of it in the course. live data is often used in software des
5.d
6.a
7.b
8.d - the padlock represents SSL but isn't SSL a security layer and not a protocol?
9.b
10.c
11.d
12.a - Question's not specific enough. Has the sound been sampled or not?
13.a - all the other options aren't relevant
14.a - they're terminators, to stop the signal
15.c
16.c
17.d
18.a
19.c - for those who picked b, ethernet cable is a medium not a receiver
20.d

The long answer questions were kinda stupid too, those six mark questions were ridiculous! The thing with IPT is, much of it is based on general knowledge on computing. The syllabus and what the teachers teach is more like a 'guideline' and the rest we have to learn by ourselves. And IPT is my best subject too haha (first place for four years yeee)

With 14, you don't know it's a terminator - it could be a router. I hate that question. 19 is 100% B. There is a misprint in Receiver, it should say connection not cable. IMO, 12, 14 and 19 should all be scrapped. Way too ambiguous.

hey i agree with most of your answers. with question 8, SSL is a protocol. its in the syllubus under communication protocol

I didn't circle the answer on my exam, just going from memory of what I put.

1. b
2. a
3. d
4. c - I was trying to choose between live and simulated as I mainly remember hearing about live test data... but I was thinking live data was from real sources, not fictional. simulated test data also gets a mention in the new sylabus.
5. d
6. a
7. b
8. c
9. a - I wasn't 100% sure on this one because I remember learning about both a and b being a part of a feasability study (and even c to a lesser extent being one of the things talked about in the davis book, not people that trialled the new system but "Are existing users of the technology happy with its quality and performance?" in technical feasibility.)
10. c
11. d
12. I either put A or C, I wasn't sure where the sound was thought to be trasmitted from... a person's mouth or a computer. I'd imagine A was the correct answer so I probably put C.
13. a
14. a - in all of the network topology diagrams I've seen this would represent a bus network, and a bus network requires terminators at both ends to prevent reflection. true they don't say it's a terminator, but it seems that is what it has to be given the type of network it's representing.
15. c
16. c
17. d
18. a
19. c - I didn't like this one at all but c seemed to be the "most correct" answer going by a process of elimination since A, B and C are all wrong. B is almost right, but misprint/typo or not, it's still wrong. I feel there is no real correct answer to this one, but C seems the most correct.
20. d
