Withdraw troops for other conflicts and redeploy them. Since my suggestion only involves destroying and not sticking around it is going to be much easier than Iraq.

Major uproar from countries no one cares about maybe.
Troops are not just some kind of unlimited commodity. There is enough conflict in the middle East as it is. Destroying some parts of Iran is only going to cause more damage and retaliation towards the WEST. It may even evoke some moderately pissed off potential terrorists to join the various networks of Extremist groups that exist.

Re-deply troops from where? They are needed where they are currently stationed as Insurgent activity is still rampant and is not under complete control.

It's funny because people defend Iran as though the countries around it support it. Many Arab nations would support a war against Iran.

Yeah but besides that, do we really need another major conflict in the Middle East at this point in time?

no matter what we talk about on this forum.....

something will happen to iran..its either the attack on its nuclear facilities or something else like more sanctions

i dont think israel would be stupid to attack iran cause like iran has nuclear facilities underground which would be almost impossible to attack

and plus....oil would rise above $200 a barrel within minutes of the attack!

Hello fellows i've been busy for a while
What do all of you think about Iran?
From what I have read about the ongoing American presidential campaigning, quite a bit of the focus seems to be how to "deal" with Iran.
It seems that pretty much the entire American public seems to believe that Iran is some sort of a tyranny or something which just wants to get nukes to blow up Israel and US.

Has it not occured to any of you that this sort of propoganda is being served to you by the very country that is THE biggest liar the world has ever seen in recent times? That the country is THE most hypocritical country in recent times?

Might it not be that Iran is misrepresented by the US Media? That Iran is actually just like any other Arab country, but extremely frustrated over the high handedness and two faced double standard of the US and just wants to get some nuclear energy? Frustrated by the numerous injuries inflicted by the West on Arab countries while the international community looks the other way?

I support Iran . At least at this point. I feel it extremely heartening that alteast one country in the wide world takes the courage to question American's so called superior status in world politics. Atleast one country is questioning America's treatment of the rest of the world as its backyard.

America should in no way put itself above international law. Which unfortunately is what is happening. oh the hypocrisy
i saw an interview of Irannian woman who was a firefighter and she mantions how Iran has progressed.
how ever an Iranian delegate talked of teh reform and how women were given thoer freedom during the reform and then it was widthdrawn afterwards, so really "the regaing of jobs is not really an advancement but rather, we are back to square one".
i only saw the last part of it the show is called Every woman.

...but that retaliation won't involve nuclear weapons.

For a start, Iraq. There are reasons for having them but I don't consider it worth it anymore. If it was up to be they would be gone tomorrow. Afghanistan, same deal. All peacekeeping missions... they provide absolutely no benefit to the country supplying the troops.

Military resources should be used only to directly support/defend their country. What they are doing now is useless. Fuck helping other people. They should all stay at home and every now and then bomb the shit out of the problem places to keep them in line.

In case you aren't paying attention, oil is projected to rise above $200 a barrel this year anyway.

Edit: That is to say, we'll have another 1973 oil crisis... but this time, there won't be any oil held back by the Arab nations as blackmail - it's peak oil. Cost of oil per barrel has doubled since the start of 2007. And is projected to double again soon (within 5 years).

well....trust me ive been paying attention

and yeah sorry that was stupid post...it will rise above $200 this year anyways you are right about that..but peak oil hasnt reached yet.......not one news website i usually read (CNN, BBC, SMH and others) spoke about the world reaching peak oil...nor theres any speculation among economists that we will reach that soon...

its all speculation by commodity traders coupled with international news such as a possible attack on iran.....problems in nigeria

one perfect example.........Shaul Mofaz of israel said that iran 'will be attacked' at some stage,

all this pushed oil to $139 per barrel.....it increased by $11 a day..the biggest ever increase ever recorded!

and yeah i of course respect your point...we could have oil peak soon where price of oil will not go down......however oil is predicted to gown sharply a term some economists call 'oil prices bust' or 'oil crash'

as to what will happen after 5 years.....we could have a doubling in oil prices again but this depends on other factors..like again.middle east and so forth

Iran supports lawless terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. In no way can it be approached with the law. Full force is the only means that the rogue leader of this backward State will understand.

I support stronger sanctions on Iran and a fierce military response should any attempt be made to attack Western interests.

Why the hell should the US be the only country to hold nuclear weapons?

Its a bit like this:
U.S: "We have reason to believe that Iran may have nuclear weapons in its possession or may be in the process of constructing nuclear weapons, which is why we have decided to invade and kill everyone"

Saddam was thought to have nuclear weapons. Guess what? He didn't. In the process of 'looking' for these imaginative weapons, half of Iraq has been fucked over and the economy left in tatters.

Countries should have the power to protect themselves from other countries. If that means having nuclears, then let it be. If the US keeps invading, WW III will be started and America will be blown to smithereens.

Says the Jew.

How do we know for sure that Iran supports terrorist groups? Because CNN said so? Or because America said so?

I say Iran should attack Israel if Israel tries to aquire nuclear weapons. They've already shown their hostility to crucial Iranian allies such as Lebanon and Palestine.

So if Israel tries to aquire nuclear weapons Iran should bomb the shit out of them.

That's so true. I think Iran should have the power to invade Israel if it attempts to acquire nuclears, but the fact of the matter is, Iran knows the consequences of invading a country on a whim. WW III will follow if countries continue invading other countries.

Anyways, I'm going to watch some porn. Goodbye.

Because those news sources are always heaps accurate and well informed...

That's hugely untrue. There are plenty of commentators who are saying oil may have already peaked. If it hasn't already happened, it's generally agreed it will happen in less than 5 years time.

Israel has nuclear weapons and has had them for a significant amount of time. Fact is that Israel has a proven record despite numerous threats and attacks it has never utilised it's nuclear capabilities contrary to Iran who will use them in an aggresive stance against Israel to "wipe Israel off the map".

As for Iran not supplying Hezbollah and Hamas:

"Iranian authorities conveyed a message to the Hezbollah leadership that their forces would continue to receive a steady supply of weapons systems," it added.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,20025299-23109,00.html

"Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Ahmadi-Nejad praised Palestinian terrorist operations, and Iran provided Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian terrorist groups -- notably HAMAS, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command -- with extensive funding, training, and weapons."
http://www.state.gov/s/ct/rls/crt/2005/64337.htm

From a Video with Lebanese Defense Minister, Abd Al-Rahim Murad on Egyptian TV November 28, 2004:

Reporter: But from where does Hizbullah have these capabilities?
Defense Minister: Iranian aid, Syrian and Lebanese aid. Aid from all parties - it's no secret, it's well known - with weapons, equipment, forces, and so on.

Iran has offered to help finance the cash-strapped Palestinian Authority governed by the Hamas militant group.

I'm sorry but there's no kind word I can speak of you, here i have provided you with proof that Iran endorses terrorist organisations contrary to your absolutely stupid claim:

How do we know for sure that Iran supports terrorist groups? Because CNN said so? Or because America said so?
Perhaps you should focus on your HSC as you're clearly going to struggle with that if you're so ignorant as to deny Irans involvement. Even Hezbollah accepts it! You're a fool.

With what? Their two dozen operational but obsolete combat planes.
