bio's a whole lot more rote learning than actual concepts i think

then again, chem/phys hsc is quite a lot of rote learning
There are still concepts in Biology - inheritance: pedigrees and punnet squares and of course, there is experimental design and reporting. There are also other concepts that unlike the ones I mentioned, are learnt by rote learning.

Biology across all introductory courses does require a lot of rote learning. It is not only the HSC course that requires rote learning. It's still a science-based course; memorisation is a part of learning science.

Chemistry and Physics are more mathematical at HSC level, so require more mathematical skill than Biology, but if you go to university and study advanced Biology, you will require hard mathematics to do well.
