Is citric acid triprotic ?? (1 Viewer)

Pretty sure it was but I saw some marking guidelines that said "triprotic is unacceptable"...

Lol yeh it is and what the hell, which paper is that??

Btw it's a propanol alcohol and 3 hydrogens are replaced with 3 carboxylate fuctional groups, those carboxylate groups are what produce the hydrogen ions

lol that doesn't really have anything to do with whether it is triprotic or not, it just means the citric ionises more than acetic when in solution. The triprotic just means it is able to produce 3 hydrogen ions per molecule which you could talk about
