Umm, yes you can get 90+ if you study harder.

Lol I only got 86 for science and in my hsc got 92 for bio, Chem was embarrassing though ;) and 86 in the exam for physics.. And I come from a school that was ranked in the 600's and honestly I didn't study that much for bio or physics... Weird though I studied the hardest for Chem and it was my worst mark...

Yes, definitely.

If you try harder, anything is possible!

It's the SC LOL. It doesn't reflect how well you will do in the HSC. I actually did much better in the SC :p meh

I wouldn't be too worried. It's only the SC as previously mentioned, however don't let that keep you from wanting to do good in the SC.
During my SC, heck I didn't even study or remember that we were doing our SC at the time XD ~ I used to muck up a lot ~. I didn't do bad at all, I did average in Science (( My worst subject)).

Point: Don't stress, just do your best.

I honestly feel the stress starts at the HSC, imo SC was a breeze. :p

Yes, there is no correlation between the SC and HSC. michealjennings can vouch for this. I've read somewhere that he was like bottom 20th at school, no B6s, at the end of Yr 10. But with consistent work throughout Yr 12, he got 99+.

I hope I was allowed to use you as an example. :)

This, school certificate is (or should I say was) a joke and the results are indicative of nothing.

No that was Stalin. Australia detonated the hydrogen bomb in Europe and Obama liberated India.

88 is a good mark to be honest, considering that there's a few people from fully and partial selective schools that get like under 85 probably for their SC external exams.
I got 90 on the dot and I considered myself as being awfully lucky. SC Science is way different from HSC Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

I got a 78 for Science, but didn't study. Getting a low mark in the SC is normally due to a lack of study, rather than ability.

This. School Certificate shouldn't count for ANYTHING.
I think I got 87 (or 89) for SC Science. My HSC Physics mark was 94.

Could i achieve a 90+ for chem and bio if i study harder?
definitely..
School certificate bears no indication on one's result in the HSC.
Work hard - but most important study smarter and band 6's in both chemistry and biology are definitely achievable.. this is coming from a person who went to a school that before me hadn't seen a band 6 in either bio or chem for more than 2 years =/

SC means nothing. Poor marks are from no study.

Nothing says you can't get obtain a high band 6 if you study enough.

Haha depends how much effort you put in whether it was "bad" or not.

But honestly, it's no way indicative of HSC result. I know someone that got a band 4 in a subject in SC and got a band 6 in HSC.
Too bad it's not indicative, I'd kill for a 93 in bio/chem hsc, but I'd be freakishly hard pressed to get it even with 10000000000000x the effort I put in the SC.

I got 89 in SC sci and 97 in both HSC chem (state rank) and phys.

So SC doesn't mean much, I'd say.
