I've heard that if you don't include temperatures for chemical equations in the HSC, you'll lose marks. Is it true though? I don't think there will be questions specifically asking for the temperatures... (well, I'm just starting Year 12 though)

For example, for the equation of converting ethanol to ethylene (Production of Materials), my tutor said I must write this:
Concentrated H2SO4
C2H5OH(l) --------> C2H4(g)+H2O(l)
350oC
with the acid and temperature above and below the arrow respectively.

What? Unless it is specified, I doubt you need to write the temperatures out for EVERY equation that's needed. I didn't lose any marks in the trials for not including temperatures where they weren't specified.

You've got me worried though LOL.

nah, if the catalyst is important then you write it in, but the temperature isn't necessary at all...

Thanks! Ah it's a relief to know that there's need to waste my brain capacity remembering some random numbers :awesome:
