For context I am aiming for a mid to high 99+ atar and attend a school in the top 6 of HSC Rankings. Currently I am studying 12 units for Y11, ( MX1, EngX1, Chem, Phys and Jap) and I have not done any accel subjects. For year 12 I want to keep the same subjects but drop japanese as my performance in Jap is FAR worse than my other subjects (33 percent compared to 80% or better in my other subjects) Only problem is our school keeps advising students to keep at least 12 units as students who often attain 99+ atars did so. I am aware I would have no saftey net if I did 10 units, but I was just wondering if it would be worth it in my case. Are there any success stories of students who did really well with 10 units? Thanks!

From what it sounds like, Japanese won't be a safety net anyway so may as well drop it

I did 10 units (Ignoring SOR 1 it was accelerated and we just did it for study periods in year 12 as Catholic Studies/SOR was compulsory) and it's fine if u're confident in ur subjects
