Is math in focus a bad book, I have heard quite negative reviews of it from my teacher and year 12 friends, what are some good maths book

It's not the best but it isn't bad as a starting point. You should use it to learn the basic concepts and then complete past paper questions to be able to prepare for exams

My teachers have told me that 'Maths in Focus' is good for an introduction and through my own use of other textbooks, it is just that.

Other good books are:
Cambridge
Fitzpatrick (my recommendation; may be challenging but not as much as Cambridge)
Past Trial Papers

Yeah it's bad the questions aren't that good and it even has wrong content. The book said cos^-1 x = secx I think which is clearly wrong

No way... Has to be a typo... The author should be behind bars for putting wrong information in a textbook! xd

Just use the Pender and/or Fitzpatrick textbooks (if you have access to them).
