Our school has voted to strike Wednesday instead of Thursday because there is a Jazz band coming to play or some shiz.
Lucky us.

EDIT: Woops. Yeah, what she said ^
Is the school allowed to do that? Aren't any teachers going to be marching in the protests?

Teachers are able to strike whenever they like. In this case the school's teachers wish to show their support for the issue at hand but have other arrangements made and thus they have voted to still strike but not to disrupt an event that can't be moved. They want march or attend other meetings but will lose their day's pay and let the government know that they should be counted among those who don't approve of the changes to the transfer system.

The strike isn't about wages. It's about the point system and making it easier for teachers to transfer schools. That's what my Extension English teacher was saying.
yeah, its about the gov tryi8ng to remove the points system, and if they do teachers will just go where they want and there'll be nothing to get them out west to schools like mine lol
