I do believe i never said anything about the intellegance levels of arts students, and considering that to get into arts law you need 99% plus, that would be a stupid somment to make.
However i do not have time to stand around handing out pamplets and it is my belief that people can find better things to do with their time than waste paper and piss people off by trying to force their views onto you. Its not just the USU ppl, its the election ppl, the EU ppl, the socialist ppl etc etc etc. Especially at 850 in the morning when i am running late to class thanks to the incompetence of city rail.
Heres a hint, if you are going to hand out pamphlets, at least put a recycling box 10 metres further along the path so there is not such a collosal waste of resources (which btw is funded by this wonderful USU). And dont stand in the fricking middle of the stairs!!!!!
It is my belief ( and i am entitled to have it) that the whole concept of handing out pamphlets and putting up posters is wasteful, inconsiderate and rude. You invade peoples space, make them go out of their way to avoid you, and spend hundreds of dollars putting up posters that get covered over by some other club or society 10 mins later anyway, and handing out pamphlets that get thrown in the bin.
And My fees fund this? I'm all for funding scholarships and tutoring and financial help for poor students etc etc etc, but pamphleteering is a big fat waste of time and money, and if VSU comes in and the pamphleteers dissappear i cant say i'll be at all dissappointed.
*end rant*
oh wait... not quite... to whoever said vets think they are all high and mighty etc etc... Thats a generalisation as bad as you whinging about ppl bagging arts students. At least in my rare spare time i do something useful, i do WIRES, and i work, and i make a contibution to my community. And yes it irks me when i see students (of any faculty) being lazy bludgers, who come to uni however many hours per week, and dont work, and spend all their free time lying on the grass, drinking etc.
I'm not saying all people who lie on the grass are lazy, but there are many ppl who ride off daddys purse strings, bludging through a degree and making no contibution to socitey at all. If people have more free time then they should spend more time volunteering or working, or doing something useful. Feel free to disagree, and argue that ppl who have more time should just bludge it away, but in my opinion, people like that have no place in civilised society.
