Prime Minister Julia Gillard says she will appoint Kevin Rudd to a senior Cabinet position if her Labor Government is re-elected later this year.

Ms Gillard did not give Mr Rudd a post in a reshuffle she announced this morning, but said she would be "absolutely delighted" to have him back to a senior frontbench position if the ALP was to win the upcoming election.
