I reckon that they can just chuck the part of polynomials that involves complex numbers straight into complex numbers. There isn't much extra to be learnt anyway.
True. I guess that the reason why BOS didn't is because back when they had the 120 mark paper, they needed eight topics to evenly distribute questions and marks.
But other than that, you are right.

All this discussion is pretty moot with the national curriculum coming out in a few years.

Integration, because to me it just seems like a bunch of silly little manipulation techniques. They rarely require abstract or higher level thinking (bar the question 8s which use integration to prove interesting results).

So you don't want the lower end of the canditature to get ANY marks?
