Lol absurd. This speculation is nothing but destabilizing and embarrassing for the entire Rees government. Loved the way his loyal colleagues rushed to his defense today in the Australian:

Mr Kelly, Police Minister, asked if he believed Mr Rees would lead Labor to the next state election, due in March 2011: "I can't see why he wouldn't."

When told his words did not sound like a ringing endorsement for Mr Rees, Mr Kelly said: "I hope that he will be (Premier). I can't see any reason why not, unless he decides it's not good for his married life or whatever."

Mr Della Bosca, the Health Minister, said the idea of a plot to dump Mr Rees was "fiction".

"I have supported Nathan Rees since Morris Iemma stepped down," he said.
Nathan Rees forced on back foot again | The Australian
It's not absurd, unchartered waters perhaps but Rees was an unknown figure in the Iemma government, a non existant one in the Carr government. The edge he has over some of his much more experienced, politically savvy colleagues is that he is not percieved to be part of the machine. The machine is too unpopular, a government lead by Dellabosca or Sartor is unimaginable, seriously if greens were to preference against labor then they would go close to leading the opposition.

O'farrells headstart is far too large, you can't win running a conventional campaign, if Rees is seen to placate the right in the slightest it's pointless. If the machine dumps him so be it, he will lose the election no doubt if he appeases them he might as well have a go. You can't change the way the public views the labor machine, it's far too unpopular, Rees and Tebbutt however are not and if they can distance themselves from it then they aren't dead and burried, even if they're still one foot in the grave.

Sartor? They have got to be kidding? The man is hated more than Bush. Well, he'd be up there.
If Sartor was to be made premier I think the sentiment would be "if we're going to lose atleast lets get some of the things we'd like to do done before that happens"

It would be very stupid for someone who was trying to install Sartor to do it, it makes Sartor look scheming, disloyal, treacherous, He'd be much better of trying to raise the numbers secretly then tap Rees on the shoulder, tell him to step aside or it will be bloody, Rees steps aside endorses Sartor, smooth transition, a more experienced head is at the helm, Rees unpopular moves are reversed, newspapers begin reporting that fat cat has a real fight on his hands instead of that amateur Rees etc. Sartor would still get creamed, he's about as electable as Carl Scully at the moment but he'd be less electable in the first scenario then in the latter.

I've allready explained why it would be more in favour of someone who supports Rees, or Rees himself for this to be leaked. Could just be Senator Conroy trying to ensure those fucking loons in NSW won't keep damaging the reputation in 2012.

The soap opera continues.

Premier battles to save his job

THE Premier, Nathan Rees, has cut a series of deals in a fight to save his leadership, giving a bizarre promotion to a junior minister and guaranteeing the Police Minister would stay in his job as part of a bid to win support for the cabinet promotion of the former union boss John Robertson.

Mr Rees has had to abandon his plans to give Mr Robertson the police portfolio and instead guarantee Tony Kelly stays in that job. Yesterday he also had the Youth Minister, Graham West, sworn in to a new veterans affairs portfolio, a day after speaking to Mr West about securing his sub-faction's support for Mr Robertson's cabinet candidacy.

The moves appeared designed to head off an attempt by renegade MPs to roll the Premier in caucus over Mr Robertson's appointment to cabinet.[...]

The Premier's job is a simple one according to an advisor I've spoken to: to be an effective communicator. Poor Rees hasn't been able to do that, maybe someone thinks Sartor can, afterall, did anyone read Miranda Devine's column in the Herald on Thursday? It was basically her saying how great she thought Sartor is, and what a wonderful job he did as Lord-Mayor.

Someone put the poor bastard out of his misery. He's completely missread the electorate and spends his time trying to secure his position as the parties leader. The party is unpopular, the electorate wants someone who will stick it to the party. Whats Marky Mark up to these days?

Laws of state politics are quite different to federal, patronage of the western suburbs will be alot more popular in NSW than in Canberra and the image of a western suburbs larikin will not have the polarising effect it had in Victoria because...they don't vote.

Laws of incumbency are also quite different to laws of opposition, someone who presents themself as a bit of a radical like Mark can have a scare campaign run against them when they're in opposition, but it's a bit tricky once they're allready in government,It'll never happen, but oh what a fun election we'd have if it did.

Unsuspecting members should know that Rafy is carefully and consistently undermining Labor in your impressionable eyes. He is classy and reasonable about this, but make no mistake as to his agenda.

I am transparent to the Iron.
However, the ALP hardly need my assistance to achieve that. They are doing a great job at undermining themselves. They are their own opposition.

I hope they do turf him and promote Robertson. That way, the catharsis is over in this tragi-comedy and the Labor party will finally have dug their own grave.

The majority of people are not affiliated with Unions, so what is an ex-Union boss going to do to get Labor out of its mire.

A field day for the Libs if they appoint him but realistically, if Labor survive another the next election it just goes to show how much this state is a sucker for punishment.

Useless, hypocritical cunt.
Indeed, he now has responsibility for privatising prisions.

Emerging Labor faction leaves old leaders out in cold

Twenty-one right-wing Labor MPs are breaking away from powerbrokers Eddie Obeid and Joe Tripodi in a factional war which could ultimately claim Premier Nathan Rees.

"Mr Sartor, the former planning minister dumped from cabinet by Mr Rees in September, is positioning for a leadership tilt and some of his supporters claim a time frame of just a few months."

Cue a perfectly timed leak of internal party polling: This state loves to hate Sartor
