Hey, anyone have any suggestions on a laptop?
Im looking for something around 1100-1500
Range cheaper is better duh. xD
With specs roughly 3gigs ram 2.0ghz+ dual core processor, amd or intel.
with a dedicated graphics card min 256. any ideas anyone ><? was considering getting a dell studio 17, but figured i can probably get something uglier but more functional/better specs. Oh yeah. Larger screen is preferable. =D

Actually, Dells tend to be on the lower end pricewise.

If you were willing to spend a little more I would have a look at Lenovo's range, they make indestructible notebooks.

Stay away from VAIOs, very poor value.

I'd advise against a 17" screen if you ever plan on leaving the house with it.

Lol, im willing to stretch price range, but iuno. The dells i was considering because of easter specials but thats over now, and im not too excisted about the gpus that they have for the price. nah 17inch i woudnt use on the go but id use it at friends house for lan parties and the such ;D. lol
bah the jghifi site is so effing slow. loads the banners and links up the top. but the content takes liek 2 minutes.

Lol vaios, look nice, work nice, and dont price to nicely. their brilliant thou if i was willing to fork out. Not caring too much about teh hd. but i would like 3 gigs of ram. as 4 gigs is useless on the 32bit os;s.

the joybook seems ok. but cant find any reliable specs or stores(online) that still stock it.

ty dp624 id forgotten about the joybook range. Mmm. 1400 ish. use on external monitor. sounds like a decent desktop replacement =D I like the gpu. 9600mgt.

yeah the benq is a pretty darn good laptop for its price
not heavy, good hard drive size, ok ram, great gpu, good processor, price good

cons:
you missed out the 150 rebate (that i got xD) and also battery life is pretty bad on max perf (but about 4 hrs if you turn stuff down)

LOL. theres tax rebates upto like 950 bucks. or something. plus all these other handouts the governments giving. but it seems our year 12 is gonna miss out on the free laptops lol. which will probably be something slightly worse. have you seen the figures of each student cost? it was like 1.5 plus i think with osme 10% leeway for damages and losses per student.

Hmm. considering, now to convince my parents. LOL. my mum doesnt want to spend 1.5 but shes like, yeah you can work it off. but now shes like. nuh wait til exams over.

An option you might consider is looking for a laptop with 2 gb ram, then get the shop to put in extra 1 gig when u buy it, thats what i did when i got my laptop a few months back, was about $50 for the ram upgrade
