i just bought a 2nd hand laptop yday.

i would of gotten a new one, but my laptop i was using before is getting repaired.

its an ibm thinkpad

it looks pretty crap which is good cause noone will steal it =D.

its a 14.1", 2.00 duo core, 2gb ram, 100gb 7200 sata.

it had a 9 cell battery, which should last about 4 and something hours, which was the main reason i got it.
also came with a 6 cell which only holds 2 hours charge.

so 6 hours in total isn't that bad =D

as for your question,
i'd get something cheap for uni.
something that wouldn't hurt you that bad if it got stolen.
make sure your laptop isnt your main computer as well,
if it is, then back up your data EVERY NIGHT

IBM Laptops tend to be reliable, very sturdy too (even though they look bad LOL) Unless it's the Ideapad series that is :)

I considered getting a 9 cell battery once before, but it made the laptop more bulky =/

I was going to get the asus 1201n but it's hardly even released in australia yet. the only one i found was from some random shop in melbourne that was selling them for 780$, also it doesn't have a cd drive for a netbook that is almost a laptop.

in the end i just got a dell inspiron 13z off dell.com.au.

CD drives are over rated tbh.

The MSI wind is a great netbook i have had mine for about 18 months now and have never ever regretted buying it.
