i've always wanted to see some jan svankmajer
thanks for the link!

chauvel screened his 'alice' a few weeks ago but i missed it :(
i caught that chauvel screening. fairly awesome movie, but every line of dialogue from the white rabbit is followed by a closeup of a kid's mouth saying "said the white rabbit". it made me wanna claw me ears off.

still, the images alone made it great. i wish i was brought up on svankmajer as a kid. :)

btw, there's oodles more svankmajer shorts on yt. in fact, most of the shorts i've seen at the chauvel recently are all there too.

i caught an early screening of Fast Food Nation last night

didn't find it as bad as some people were saying. a bit uneven but it had some strong moments. i was ok with the lack of strong political agenda - anything more didactic would have been awful
erm i dunno
3 stars from me :p

is it entertaining or particularly suitable as a film?

it looks like a lot of pictures of ice caps and gore speaking on a stage
like it would work better as a book (if people still read)

I don't think Gore would get the same message across if it was a book.

Did the movie actually change anything though or did it just alert the ones that didn't know?

Anyways, I just watched "Scent of a woman" (Pacino won an oscar for it)
