the latest ABS data the gini for 2007-8 was
0.331 (pg 12).
however! they changed their measurements so that value isn't comparable with the earlier values. if you're talking about trends then the value to use for 2007-8 would be
0.317 (pg 64), reflecting a slight increase in inequality from 0.305 in 2005-6 (pg 64).
i think that billy blog bloke may have transposed his 0.345 value from the line above the gini coefficient in the table on pg16, which is 9.345.
