in that case maybe there is no difference.
But technically there is a difference between 80's and 90's, especially, for example, when you do an essay and it's marked out of 20 marks...then every mark and 1/2 mark you get/lose is determined by the marking creteria. with 18 and over is band 6, 16 & 17 band 5 and so on

While we're OT, and I do similar subjects as you, 4u maths, adv eng, chem and sdd, and raw marks atm are ~50% for 3u and 4u, 85 for adv eng, 80 for chem, and 90 for sdd, would that be enough to get in the 95-97 range? or would I have to boost my marks up a little bit more for achieve that?
Thanks

if you wanna get over 95 you can't get less than 80 in any subject whatsoever...simple enough....and obviously after that the better you go in eng and 3U & 4U maths the better...
you got good subjects there

Thanks for the reply, I can easily improve of maths, i think 85 will be all i could handle for english. Also another thing, I dont really understand the scaling business. I have heard the 50-60->80-90 for 4u, etc, so would that 50-60 raw be considered as 80-90 hsc mark?

no subject will get you UAI over 90 if you get 50/60/70 in it.

I know someone from who did his HSC last year in a differnt school than mine, he got UAI of 98.something, his lowest mark was 82 (in russian) and he got over 90 in both 3U and 4U maths...that goes to show you that if you're aiming for the tops you can't get less than average in anything...unless you're gonna get something amazing such as over 95 in 3U and 4U...

You can't predict how it goes. Everyone has stories of people either getting really bad marks and a low UAI or the other way around, so instead of worrying about your UAI, why don't you just worry bout getting your best because the UAI is then out of your hands.
