Mine is 900-1000. I can write 1000 MAX in 40 minutes, and even that's stretching it. My generic essays are also less than 1000 words, and I've practiced various questions so that I know what to cut out if I don't have enough time. Still kind of worried though...

~1000 words is fine, everyone needs to stop stressing. If u stress, you will forget things

Tully B and 4theHSC - 900 words is more than enough to do well. Person who came 3rd in English Advanced last year prepared 940 words last year (I'm guessing he would've written 1000 to mould it to the question) in Paper One Section Three.

I can't understand how you people can spit out 1000+ words in 40mins... that's incredibly quick. I'm left handed... so being a slow writer by nature, I've learned how to keep my essays concise yet detailed and insightful. 40mins gets me one 4-page booklet.. which is about 800 words for me.
Seeing you guys putting out up to 1300 words is making me a tad nervous.

Don't forget you'll probally have more than 40 minutes for the essay. I'm aiming to get through the first section in about 30 minutes then leave 50 for essay and 40 for story.
