premi babies? Gawd no. We just had to look at other life support systems like dialysis etc... but I guess the things we looked at could be used for babies... basically any life support system that removes toxins and waste from the body and puts nutrients and oxygen into the blood could be miniturised for use on little tykes.
life support systems examples would be
- renal dialysis (artificial kidney it removes toxins and inputs nutrients
- ventilator (assis in breathing where a lung is put down the trachea and bronchi straight into the lungs
- respirator (takes over breathing - used in open heart surgery ect where heart must be stopped)
- iron lung (pretty much a respirator. It compresses and decompresses the thoracic cavity [separates the lung and heart from the abdominal cavity] to assist in removing CO2 and inputting O2 and pumping around blood vessels to deliver O2 to cells
just apply that to babies
and yes i know this is a year old thread. just to help others
