Hey,

So I was having difficulty doing this question

Find the equation of the locus of point P(x,y) that moves so that it is equidistant from the x-axis and the y-axis.
Should you just know that the answer is y = +/- x? if not how do you get to the answer?

The set of all points equidistant to a pair of intersecting lines in the Cartesian plane is known to be the lines that pass through the point of intersection and bisect the angles between the lines. In this case, this gives the lines y = ±x.
