Is it simpler to leave ln8 + 4ln3, or are you able to simplify it further, ie.
ln (8*3^4) and is that simpler?

You could make it ln (648) but that's just being pedantic and I'm sure either answer would be fine in a test as long as it didn't ask to simplify/express to a single expression.

You certainly wouldn't get marked down for not 'simplifying', however if the resultant number in the log (in this case, 648) isn't too large, then it may make the answer look neater. I don't think that there is any official answer as to which answer is simpler though.
