Looking for a related text to use with A Short History of Nearly Everything. (1 Viewer)

I'm struggling to find an appropriate related text. I'm looking for something more focused around personal / emotional discovery, just because short history is all about scientific discovery. Also, something that analyses the types of discovery mentioned in short history like losing then rediscovering, unwanted discoveries, unintended impacts of discoveries. I'd prefer something like a short film or story, because the exam is quite soon.

I was thinking Pixar's short film paperman or the short story a bucket of air, but neither seem to lend themselves to the context I guess.

ANY text can show discovery so just pick any text you think shows similar themes to your prescribed text and analyse it with your interpretation
