In other words you havent seen any movies on sbsnwatts said:Come back to me when you want to have a discussion about film.
To stoop to your level: most of the DVDs I own are those that you'd only ever watch on SBS. A lot the films I consider to be the very finest ever created are foreign and/or arthouse films that I'd even be surprised to see aired on SBS.mikeee said:In other words you havent seen any movies on sbs
I watch plenty of movies on SBS (and for the record, I adored Lost in Translation). That a movie is subtitled does not automatically make it quality arthouse cinema. Believe it or not, SBS airs crap films as well - all nations are capable of producing them.mikeee said:have you seen any movies on sbs?

Lol... I loved that guy's comment, it was the biggest 'I'm better than you because my art is not mainstream'Lundy said:I watch plenty of movies on SBS (and for the record, I adored Lost in Translation). hahahahaicecreamdisco said:i always watch sbs movies to feel more intellectual, such as the weatherwomen and the flodder sequels.
I think every person who loves Lost in Translation knows all about the opinions of its critics, so I doubt if one more hater really makes a difference to anyone. mikeee however isn't so much a critic so much as an insecure tryhard with very limited capacities to understand and to articulate any constructive criticism. That's probably why he has to resort to immature and frankly, foolish attempts to undermine the (for the lack of a better word) film watching 'authority' of nwatts.otay said:nah go mikeee. Just coz a few of you cunts say it's great and the critics do doesn't mean we need to bend over and agree with you. It's his opinion. I also think it's a piece of shit. But I mean if you like it good for you. I'm not asking you to explain why you like it, but don't give shit to people who don't agree with you. Scarlect Johansson is way better in Match Point and Bill Murray is better in many more films.
They've showed a few American indie films lately. Donnie Darko, Virgin Suicides... another I can't recall the name of.Lundy said:Lost in Translation is far from mainstream fare. I'm pretty sure it's an indie film and I wouldn't be surprised if SBS picked up the rights to it.
Firstly, Writing for an online film/DVD reviewing publication for over 12 months does not make automatically make nwatts a "film watching authority"!Benny_ said:I think every person who loves Lost in Translation knows all about the opinions of its critics, so I doubt if one more hater really makes a difference to anyone. mikeee however isn't so much a critic so much as an insecure tryhard with very limited capacities to understand and to articulate any constructive criticism. and gets replies such asicecreamdisco said:those who did not like this film did not understand it, and would therefore be better off with something on their intellectual level, such as bad boys 2, fight club, armageddon or donnie darko.

Im just giving my opinion which i am entitled to, and some of you cant take it, however i will not stoop down to your low level and pay you out cause im not the kind of person who pays out people for having a different opinion!Benny_ said:insecure tryhard
No, but i'm certainly more of an authority than you.mikeee said:Firstly, Writing for an online film/DVD reviewing publication for over 12 months does not make automatically make nwatts a "film watching authority"!
You're not supporting your opinion. Considering this is a thread full of people who love this film, as well as thread full of this forum's authorities on film, you're seen as an absolute moron for statements such as "have you seen any movies on sbs?" and "I understood it and it is still shit!".mikeee said:Im just giving my opinion which i am entitled to, and some of you cant take it, however i will not stoop down to your low level and pay you out cause im not the kind of person who pays out people for having a different opinion!
I didn't say he was. I said you were trying to undermine his authority in watching film using an extremely flimsy assumption. This is also the reason why you're getting treated as 'intellectually inferior' as you like to put it. Having an opinion is fine, but be prepared to back it up with something slightly less clueless than: 'you don't watch sbs movies'.mikeee said:Firstly, Writing for an online film/DVD reviewing publication for over 12 months does not make automatically make nwatts a "film watching authority"!
coupled with the fact that lost in translation was such a great filmBenny_ said:I didn't say he was.
