I didn't much like this episode at all. I thought there was not enough "relationshippy" with lots of unexpected twists.

Who would have thought that Widmore was one of the "Others" and it is implied that Ellie is Faraday's mother, Mrs Hawking.

But I don't think Lost is all about the "unexpected twists", its a show about the characters and so far this season the character stories have been very weak. Jin returns next episode ('The Little Prince'), can't wait!

but ill just watch it on the internet like the rest of aussie followers

ummm... you might want to make sure you're watching Lost, and not like, uh, porn.

Episode 4: seems like more on screen time is being devoted to the Oceanic 6 rather than the survivors. But its all good

And what about Rousseau? Seems like Lost is moving more and more towards answering questions from the first few seasons

Although I do believe it will be quite important down the track when we find out that it was Sawyer that drank all the beer during a flash that hasnt yet occured and that the people shooting at the losties in the water are not enemies but very familiar faces

Yes Ive gotten that feeling aswell. But it seems as though Kate and Jack are done for good, so Im thinking that when the Oceanic 6 get back to the island, Juliet and Jack, Sawyer and Kate happen. seems right, surgeon and doctor, con man and fugitive.

Isnt Desmond travelling to LA to find Faraday's mum, who seems to be Ms. Hawking since she was doing some crazy maths stuff last a few episodes back. so he might get caught up in it all before long. But Desmond is also 'special', the rules dont apply to him according to Faraday

the thing is, this season only has 10 episodes and the next season only has 10 as well. and then its finished. how are they going to answer all these questions in such a short time?

i dont want them to rush everything with 20 question answered per episode, it will just ruin it.

I dunno who told you there were so few but each season from here on is meant to have 16 episodes i think and 1 extra for the episodes lost during the writers strike, or something. so there is around 11 episodes of season 5 and 17 more for season 6 so still a fair while. and im sure that if they need a few extra episodes, producers at ABC would allow an extra hour or two

but even so I agree that things seem like they will have to be rushed, especially with half of each episode taking place off the island

You are correct. Originally they had planned at the end of season 3 that each subsequent season would contain 16 episodes but due to the Writers Strike mid-way through Season 4, they had to shorten the season (which worked out to be 14 hours out of the 16 originally planned) and struck another deal with ABC to include an extra hour to both Seasons 5 & 6 (meaning each season will include 17 episodes). Now the fifth episode ('This Place Is Death') of the fifth season is to screen in the coming week, there are still thirteen episodes left for that season and another seventeen for the final season. Keeping in mind, season finales are usually done in 2 hour blocks we essentially have 32 hours of Lost left. That's more than enough time to answer most of the questions important to the mythology of the series (such as what is the smoke monster, what is with the four toed statue, etc.) whilst also asking a few new questions as well.
I don't think Jack and Kate are over. I think 'The Little Prince' pretty much showed that they still share something and whilst I think Juliet will probably hook up with Sawyer I don't think it will lead to anything. My opinion is that Jack will ultimately end up with Kate.

yea 32 hours is plenty. but it has been made considerably easier to answer questions now because of the flashes. they can take the losties to virtually any point in the islands history so the writers could "flash time jump" back to when the statue was built and when smokey was first released/built and just answer a bunch of questions in one episode

Well Mrs. Hawking did tell Ben that he only has 70 hours to get the Oceanic 6 together again so I'm assuming that the Others have some plan in place to get them all back to the island

Faraday seems to think he can calculate stuff if he knows where the island is in time. so perhaps Mrs. Hawking also knows some stuff and has predicted that in 70 hours the island will appear again during one of its flashes

its all getting lovely and complex, and its fun to speculate but I think the best thing to do would be to wait for the next episode
