low pass rate for ACST101? (1 Viewer)

Currently studying ACST101 at SIBT, the average mark for test 1 is 4/10, test 2 is 9/25, what with the low average marks? I spoke to Henry, the unit coordinator, he said that there is no scaling, everything is based on raw mark, so most people will probably fail.

I don't see why would they want to scale up in acst101,
it is really a very basic course, but this course will only be useful if you do the finance side though.

Even in Macquarie uni the lecturer said 30% fail rate, it is quite common to fail if you don't have a try in this subject or your maths ability is really bad.

but looking at the average score, the fail rate at SIBT will be way more than 30%.

class test doesn't represent the true failing rate anyway...

I wouldn't suprise the fail rate maybe a little bit higher than the university acst101 failing rate, maybe the reason is lack of literary skill.

They can always repeat anyway, since you can get into the accounting degree within 1.5 gpa.
Average score doesn't matter, you should always perform your best regardless other people do.
You should just be worrying your personal marks especially when there's no scaling

I want to get into B.ACST with B.AppFin from SIBT is it possible?

Yes, it is possible. You just need to fulfill the requirement (I think is GPA3 with HD in math135 and C in acst101). You should be able to get these grades if you want to do B.ACST, the average mark for acst101 for actuarial student is around 85. You should really get Distinction and above if you want to do B.ACST as the further subject require proficiency for acst101 knowledge. (such as acst202, acst255 .... etc)

I think they raise the gpa to 3.25
