Do not worry, it takes practice, trust me. How do you study for it?

Re: maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaths :|

Well, i have an exam coming up. SO im doing practise papers.

Usually, after a lesson, i do homework and revise formulas if needed. And if i have problems I ask.
I also do tutoring for it.

Which textbook do you use? How long does this all take? How many repetitive questions are you doing? I recommend that once a concept is drilled in your head, you avoid those repetitive questions and go onto harder exam style questions. When you get your examination back, how many of those questions are you able to answer again under no pressure?

Re: maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaths :|

Is your tutoring 1-on-1 or at a coaching centre?

I think you need to be exposed to more harder exam style questions. Have you done any past papers under examination conditions?

coaching centre
Why I asked is because I think students facing difficulty in maths need personalised (1-on-1) help. If you are in yr-11 you can still switch unless you find your coaching centre suits your needs.

SpiraFlex is one of the most helpful persons on bos right now. But may be going for more challenging texts is not the way to go. Make sure first of all you understand all the basic concepts and theory. You can verify this by making sure you can do most of the earlier exercises in MIF. You can then progress to more challenging exercises. I have more than my fair share of struggling students.

I think epicFailx knows the basic content sufficiently but cannot apply it to harder questions. Thanks for the compliment oh great one!

id prefer one on one tutoring. But doesnt it depend on whether they are a good tutor, they dont rip you off etc

Some what, try to find experienced or dedicated tutors. I myself are hoping to become a teacher/tutor and genuinely help humans.

Like all things - you have good singers, average singers and poor singers; good students, avg students and good students etc. Same with tutors: they range from good to poor. Also whether good or not is often the assessment of the student. Sometimes a tutor is good but the student may have a different idea of what a good tutor is. There are some private tutors who are very well-qualified and experienced. It doesn't mean all coaching centre teaching staff are all that great.

What is ripoff again depends on what one considers ripoff. I charge about $40 to $50 an hour 1-on-1. At this rate I would be hard-pressed to make $60K a year even if I have many students. Is that rip off? A coaching class with 10 students charging at that rate would make a mint for the centre.
